Thai Yoga Massage

Chantel Therese Missen

Commonly referred to as ‘lazy yoga’, Thai Yoga massage assists you in asana like stretches, as if you completed a relaxing yoga class. For anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice or unable to perform yoga on their own; this modality is for you. Thai Yoga massage is accessible for almost everyone. The soothing, rhythmical kneading can be used for many conditions, and the stretches can be modified for intensity and depth. You require loose comfortable clothing to wear, while lying on a mat. This means it is accessible for people who normally require assistance on or off cumbersome tables, or feel uncomfortable removing clothing. The approach is traditionally meant to enable a deep relaxation in a silent, meditative state. This is widely perceived to increase the effects of reducing stress. Traditionally, Thai Yoga Massage can last for two or more hours. Once you experience the unique aspects of this modality, you’ll understand why three hours can seem normal!

Chantel Therese Missen is a Certified Advanced Practitioner and Teacher of Thai Yoga Massage. She studied under Chongkol Setthakorn at the International Training Massage School in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She is also a member of the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada and the Yoga Alliance. She is also a Certified Yoga Teacher for over six years.

Overcome life’s obstacles and sooth your body, mind, and soul…

How Thai Yoga Massage Works:

In Thai Yoga Massage, practitioners assist and guide your body into various yoga postures using their own positioning, alignment, and bodyweight for support. You receive these yoga postures lying on a mat, in conjunction with massage. The practitioner uses their hands, thumbs, forearms, elbows, knees, or their feet. You get to completely relax while being manipulated into various poses which deepens the effect of the massage on your body. Thai Yoga Massage works with pressure points, energy lines, and stretching. The massage is applied by the practitioner in a rhythmic movement, no oils are used and you remain fully clothed throughout the massage.

Benefits Received:

Thai Yoga Massage is a great way to relax and reduce stress. As your body stretches, deeply held tension in your muscles is removed in a relaxed and supportive way. No experience of yoga or substantial flexibility is required to receive it. It’s a perfect gift for someone you care about, including yourself. Here are some of the benefits:
• Thai Yoga Massage is a full body massage that revitalizes your body, mind, and spirit. Many people can feel energized, lighter and more open afterwards.
• Both yoga and massage are combined to strengthen your immune system, rebalance your muscles and joints, and renew the sense of vitality.
• It is an excellent compliment to any form of exercise or holistic health work.
• People who have undergone surgery find it can help to break up tight scar tissue and get their circulation moving again.
• Thai Yoga Massage is respected as a spiritual art of healing for those who give it, since its ancient art was practiced in the temples of Thailand.
